Ukraine Joins Global AI Ethics Treaty with Council of Europe
Ukraine has become a signatory to the Council of Europe Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence, marking its commitment to ethical AI governance. The treaty, the first of its kind globally, establishes standards for AI’s alignment with human rights, democracy, and the rule of law.
Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Oleksandr Borniakov represented Ukraine at the signing ceremony alongside Bjørn Berge, Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe. The MOVE aligns Ukraine with major economies including the EU, US, and Japan in shaping international AI policy.
Government officials highlighted imminent AI integrations into Ukraine’s digital infrastructure, specifically mentioning the Diia and Mriia platforms. This development signals growing institutional adoption of AI technologies while addressing ethical concerns.
